3D SKELETAL MUSCLE CULTURE DEVICES

Advance your skeletal muscle research projects and implement new 3D cell culture technologies with our OMEGAMP 3D skeletal muscle device series

To help you create human-relevant in vitro models, each culture chamber of OMEGAMP and OMEGA96-MP contains two built-in micropillars that serve as anchor points for the 3D muscle culture. Simply watch your cells self-assemble into a stable and mature skeletal muscle microtissue (see video below for an example). Once sufficiently matured, these 3D microtissues twitch and contract as you would expect from skeletal muscle.

The OMEGAMP features two and the OMEGA96-MP 96 experimental units so you can easily collect more data.

LONG-TERM CULTURES

With our 3D muscle device you can grow stable and mature muscle cultures with ease. Compared to monolayer muscle cultures that are known to detach from the surface after a short period of time, 3D skeletal muscle tissues are stable for longer-term culture applications and mature more rapidly and more completely. Once sufficiently matured, these microtissues twitch and contract as you would expect from skeletal muscle. This increased physiological relevance of this system makes it ideal for the development of new in vitro assays and disease models of both muscle and neuromuscular disorders.

VERSATILE

You can use myogenic progenitor cells from primary, iPSC or immortalized sources for your 3D in vitro model of skeletal muscle! Simply resuspend the cells in an ECM-derived hydrogel mixture and seed them into the muscle culture chamber. After polymerization, the hydrogel-suspended myoblasts begin to differentiate and self-assemble into a 3D muscle microtissue using the two micropillars as anchors. ACCESS CULTURES DIRECTLY

OMEGAMP devices have open-top chambers for full access to the cultures for electrophysiological stimulation or recording. The ability to examine the contractile and electrophysiological characteristics of mature skeletal muscle is incredibly advantageous in the context of fundamental as well as drug development research. In addition, the thin high-transmissive PDMS base allows for optical access for high quality imaging.
