Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a rare neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorder that affects the sympathetic and sensory nervous system.

In this article, the authors employ the human pluripotent stem cell system to understand disease mechanisms and test candidate drugs.
Among other approaches, they use the OMEGA-4 device as a fluidic compartmentalization tool to study axonal outgrowth of human FD sympathetic neurons.
